On July 21, the 2023 China International Fabric Design Competition and the 50th China Popular Fabric finalist judging meeting was held in Shanghai Sema Industrial Park. On the one hand, this activity has built a platform for textile enterprises to show the ability of fabric research and development, and on the other hand, it also provides a convenient channel for brands to find fabrics that meet the design needs.

Fashion trends set the tone and innovate

Over the years, the competition has guided more than 1,000 textile and garment enterprises to carry out product innovation based on the popular trends researched and released by the China Textile Information Center and the National Textile Product Development Center. It can be seen from the scene that the fashion trend of Chinese textile fabrics has played an important role in guiding, leading and forward-looking, and the innovation of participating products in appearance, texture, color and other aspects has greatly increased the added value. Qi Mei, director of the fashion trend research Department of China Textile Information Center, believes that this year's fabric is amazing in terms of quality and variety of colors, and "texture" has become a new keyword, which is reflected in many aspects of leisure style, trend advanced color, luxury material and so on. "More and more fabric companies have begun to consciously design products based on popular trends, such as upgrading in terms of comfort, feel, texture, etc., so that ordinary plain fabrics have a higher sense of quality and applicability."

Liu Wei, artistic director of Beijing Textile Design and Research Institute, also said that the participating fabrics have made great breakthroughs in material and color, especially in color, and the grasp and use of international trends are more in place. "Overall, the participating fabrics integrate a lot of new technologies, the application of environmentally friendly fibers, elastic fibers and other new materials, a variety of fibers blended and interwoven application also greatly enriched the style of the fabric, so that the fabric in the function of the continuous improvement."
